Start Dreaming as a Spiritual Practice
Your dreams are yours and yours only, no one else has the power to see what you see. In this mysterious state, called the dream world, you have the opportunity to receive complex visions specific to your life. Therefore, you are the only one who truly understands what your dreams are telling you. It’s all about what you do with your time while you are awake, that sets the tone for the spiritual practice of dreaming. Thus leading to a deeper understanding of the messages your dreams are communicating with you.
“Why did I dream that?”
“What does this dream mean?”
This becomes easier to answer once you start dreaming as a spiritual practice. Many factors from your waking life come into play in the dream world, creating illusions & messages through symbolism. It’s important to cleanse your spirit before entering your sleep-state because your dreams will have less illusions and more clear answers to your deepest concerns.
JOURNAL! JOURNAL! JOURNAL!
First things first: if you don’t have a dream journal yet, you should start one today! This is a huge key to unlocking the meaning of your dreams. Journal, because it’s like cleansing your brain; letting all those feelings you gathered throughout the day pour out onto paper. It’s important to journal your intentions before you go to bed and record what you saw and felt in your dream directly after you wake up, so the dream is fresh in your memory bank!
Before bed, journal everything feeling you have at the moment, what your day was like, and what you intend to dream about. When you wake up and record your dream; stick to the main symbols and feelings you noticed in the dream, you can keep it short or go into depth. When you are done recording, start making connections from your journal entry before bed to your dream. What are the connections? Did you receive a message from your dream?
WHAT YOU CAN DO IN YOUR WAKING LIFE TO HELP YOUR DREAMS:
A majority of people are not breathing properly. Shallow breaths result in shallow thoughts, shallow thoughts do not do well in the dream realm. Breathe deep from your belly, hold for as long as you can, and release. Release all the noise and clutter from your brain. Breathe deeper, think deeper, dream deeper.
We hear so much noise throughout the day. And if you’re a scary movies lover like a lot of us, it’s important to change the vibe in your room after taking in all those sounds and images that caused deep reactions within the nervous system. Raw, live, frequencies are the best for cleansing the air. Such as, singing bowls and tuning forks. But you can always find healing frequencies in many other places like: YouTube, Apple Music, and Spotify.
What were you grateful for today? You can write what you’re thankful for on paper or say it out loud. Just acknowledge the areas of your life that are going well, that way you can enter your dreams with gratitude.
ASK FOR GUIDANCE
Before you go to sleep, address areas of your life that you need answers in. Ask that your dreams reveal a solution to your problem or clarity to your situation. If you go into your dream without any direction, it will be very confusing to de-code. Be clear about what is is that you would like your dreams to show you.
In time, your dreams will start giving you some answers that may be a challenge to see in the waking world with distractions. Your brain, when sleeping, is so powerful because your body is in a deep state of relaxation, your eyes are closed, and your brain is releasing DMT which makes it possible to dream anything and everything! Start paying more attention to what your subconscious is telling you in your sleep, and you could solve some issues you face in the real world.
